BITTER GOURD MASALA





Bitter gourd is one vegetable that is usually avoided by most people because of its taste. This recipe makes bitter gourd delicious and you would want to make it often at home. What more this requires few ingredients and gets cooked in about 15 minutes.


Ingredients

250 gms bitter gourd cut into half, seeds removes and then chopped into small pieces
½ cup chana dal
2 tbsp oil
1 onion chopped
2 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp red chilli powder
2 tsp coriander powder
¾ tsp salt
¼ tsp turmeric powder
3 tomatoes pureed
Chopped coriander leaves

Method

Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add onions and sauté for a minute.
Next add ginger garlic paste and sauté till the raw smell goes.
Add in red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt and mix well. 
Then add tomatoes and cook till oil starts separating. 
Finally add chana dal, bitter gourd, coriander leaves and 2 cups of water and bring to a boil. 
Close the lid and pressure cook for 4 to 5 whistles. 
Serve hot as a side dish with rice and dal.
