This is a quick and easy recipe of chutney which you can
prepare in less than 15 minutes. Onion chutney tastes best when served with idly and
sambar.
Ingredients
2 tbsp oil
3 onions chopped
3 cloves of garlic
2 dry red chillies
½ tsp mustard seeds
10 to 12 curry leaves
Lemon sized ball of tamarind (washed with water)
¼ tsp asafetida powder
¾ tsp salt
Method
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and allow it to sputter.
- Then add dry red chillies, curry leaves and garlic and mix for a few seconds.
- Next add in tamarind and asafetida powder and sauté till fragrant.
- Finally add chopped onions and salt and cook till the raw smell goes.
- Allow the mix to cool down completely and grind to a paste.
- Garnish with sliced onions and serve.
